If Myliddy is not released people will start struggling for that: Mawai warns Good Governance

Myliddy should be released as promised by the President and the Prime Minister, else there is no other way for people other than fighting for it, said the leader of ITAK and  MP, Mawai Senathyrajah.

He said so commenting on the opposition expressed to the President by the Army Commander to release Myliddy and the surrounding villages in meeting held in the President’s Secretariat yesterday.

President Maithripala and Prime Minister Ranil had promised on several occasions regarding resettlement. President had said that he will resettle Myliddy people in their own soil. Speaking in the Thai Pongal festival, Prime Minister Ranil said that if Palaly is to be developed as an International Air Port, Myliddy could not be released. But, now, Palaly is to be developed only as Regional Air Port, Myliddy could be released.

A decision had been arrived at the CC meeting that all the lands of the people should be released at the same time. We take that decision to the President. He had to accept our justification. They are telling about the storage of weapons. Have they hoarded nuclear weapons there? Whatever the weapons they should be removed from there and the lands released to the people.

If the President and Prime Minister do not give satisfactory reply, we have no other way than rallying people and struggle for our lands, he said.
