Action to re-commission Kankesan Cement Factory with funding from foreign establishment
Several foreign organizations have come forward on a financing basis to re-commission Kankesanthurai Lanka Cement Factory. A meeting of former employees, Engineers and Technologist of the factory with regard to re-commissioning of the factory was held at “Thal Sevena” hotel in Palaly yesterday presided by the Chairman of the said factory, Liyange.
Rs.40,000 Million will be needed to re-commission this factory and several countries including India, Corea, Saudi-Arabia, and china had expressed willingness to invest in this project it was reported. A person from Tamil faction also had come forward to invest in this project, it is learnt.
It was reported that these countries are willing to invest under conditions including a 30 years lease arrangement. The discussion yesterday was an initial discussion towards re-commissioning this factory. The projects for recommissioning will be undertaken soon, it was reported.
