Group of 8 formed by TNA, including constituent parties, to handle talks, with Government
The TNA had formed a group of 8 to handle future talks with the Sri Lankan Government regarding Political Solution and day to day problems of the Tamil people. This group will discuss about the matters to be talked with the government prior to the meeting.
This had been formed with two representatives from each of the four constituent parties. Several matters were discussed in a meeting yesterday with all four constituent parties and finally the group was formed.
Matters regarding Political solution had to be studied. Release of Tamil Political Prisoners and Resettlement, are also not solved. Talks had to be undertaken about them. The TNA cannot keep silence just because the there will massive impacts in the south if TNA handle these things on a hard line basis. The Government is failing in fulfilling its promises. long delays are experienced in these matters. All three parties except ITAK insisted that negotiations should be held with the Government and finally a decision was reached to form the above group of 8
Former MP, Suresh Premachandran, MP, Sivasakthy Ananthan from EPRLF, MPs, Mawai Senathyrajah and M.A.Sunanthiran from ITAK, MP. T.Sitharthan and R. Ragavan from PLOTE, MP, Selvam Adaikalanathan from TELO were appointed as the members of the group.
It was also decided yesterday that only this group will discuss and and decide on what had to talked with the government.
