North reverberates with 6 Demonstrations in 4 locations
Six demonstrations were staged in four places in the North, calling for various demands. North reverberated due to the demonstrations regarding Resettlement, Missing persons’ Affair, Eliminating child abuse, the Vavuniya Economic Centre Affair, Boycott of the surgeons of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and the Service boycott of the Private Busses.
The Private busses boycotted services protesting the non- implementation of integrated time table. The boycott came to an end after the meeting with the Governor.
People of Palaly and Myliddy held their demonstration near Nallur Temple calling for their resettlement and other demands. Notable feature of this demonstration is that the EPDP, which is a member of the Mahindha- Government had never participated in demonstrations like this, but they took part in yesterdays demonstration.
Doctors of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital boycotted duties calling for the removal of a Nursing Officer in charge of operation Theatre, following her dispute with a surgeon over Oxygen availability in the Operation Theatre.
A fasting demonstrated started at Vavuniya over the Economic Centre Affair also came to an end after, Musthan, MP, promised to negotiate with CM who will be visiting Vavuniya.
