Black Tigers Commemorated at Jaffna University
In a context where the Black Tigers who had sacrificed their lives for the redemption of Tamil people were commemorated by the worldwide Diaspora yesterday, they were also commemorated also by the students of the Jaffna University amidst much threats.
Students participated in their numbers in this event organized in a special location in the campus and paid their homage to the Black Tigers. Posters with the Tiger emblem were pasted widespread in Jaffna University and Jaffna Town.
29 years have passed after Captain Miller made a first ever Black Tiger Attack on the Armed Forces of Sri lanka on 5.7.1987 and inaugurated the era of the Black Tigers. several hundred soldiers were killed and several hundred other soldiers were wounded in this attack on Nelliyadi Army Camp. This day was commemorated as Black Tiger’s Day by the Liberation Tigers and the people of Tamil Eelam.
