Army tried to hoodwink the Court – list of rehabilitated militants submitted in place of Surrendees list
The officer of the 58 Division submitted the list of rehabilitated militant instead of the required list of surrenders at the end of the war in 2009, but the Mullaithevu District court has rejected it.
This is not the document called for by the court. You should appear in court with the required document, the judge , M.S.M Samsutheentheen, Mullaitheevu court had warned, Major General Chanakkya Gunawardene.
A Haber Corpus had been filed earlier in Vavuniya court and later transferred to Mullaiyheevu.
On an earlier occasion the Commander of 58 division said that those who cited in the petition had not surrendered to the Army . On cross examination regarding the source of the statement he testified that he is saying on the basis of the list of surrenders which is with the Army. Thereafter court ordered to produce the list to the court.
The case was adjourned to 29th.
