Jaffna University closed indefinitely

The Jaffna University yesterday announced that all faculties of the University are being closed until further notice following the fighting between Tamil – Sinhala Students of the Science Faculty.

All faculties at Jaffna campus, Fine Arts at Maruthanar Madam, Kaithady Sitha Ayurveda, Kilinochchi Faculties and  Vavuniya Faculty had been closed down.

Following the fighting the University immediately announced that the Science Faculty is being closed indefinitely. Prime Minister Ranil conferred with the TNA on closing all faculties of the University. Following the meeting of  the Vice Chancellor and Deans of the Faculties it was decided to close the all Faculties.

The university had put out a statement that all actions taken to re-open the faculties in a cordial atmosphere soon.
