Buddhist Vihare at Iranai Madhu: Discussion regarding the struggle against the construction of Vihare
A discussion regarding the people’s struggle against the transgressive, Buddist Vihare, built in haste by the Army, will be held at the Vasantha Vasa, A9 road, Paravipanchchan , Kilinochchi at 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Secretary of the TNPF, Selavarasa Kajendran has announced.
A large Buddha statue had been placed on the 3rd inner road of the Kanagambihai kulam temple by the Army and a wall had been now constructed by the Army in haste with an intention of making this a massive Buddhist temple. This should be stopped, he said.
TNPF strongly condemns this trangressive Buddhization act of the Government, using its governmental and military powers.
The above vihare is built with a purpose of destroying the cultural symbols in Iranaimadhu area in Kilinochchi, create a Buddhist dominance in Kilinochchi , establish Sinhalese colonies and army colonies, and change the population distribution of Kilinochchi District.
It is notable that the Chief priest of Peliyagoda Gangarama Vihare, Rev. Wimalakanage thero had said that if the vihare at Kanagambihai kulam had been constructed without the permission from the Hindu Temple administration or against the wishes of the people , then, the Buddhist temple will contravening Buddhist Doctrine.
