Three important buildings released by the Army in Vavuniya
Three important buildings which were occupied by the Army were returned to appropriate authorities on day before yesterday.
The building belonging to Pampaimadu MPCS, the building belonging to Pampaimadu Pradeshiya sabai and the Vavuniya cultural hall were the buildings that were handed over.
After the commencement of the war in 1990, these buildings were taken over by the security Forces during various periods. Although Local Government authorities and the MPCS had requested several times to release their buildings the Army kept on occupying these buildings.
A discussion was held at the SFHQ-Vavuniya, presided by the Secretary to Ministry of Defence, Hettiarachchi regarding buildings and lands under the control of the Army. Army promised to release these buildings and 1,000 acre at Menik Farm.
Although the above buildings were released , the 1,000 acre at Menik farm was not yet released.
