Pannavedduvan people appeal to resettle them in their own village

The people of Pannavedduvan of Madu Divisional Secretary’s area in Mannar District, who have been displaced for a long time from their village had appealed to the Minister of resettlement, to take speedy action to resettle them in their own village.

The President Pannavedduvan St. Antony’s Development Society,  had handed over a copy of a memorandum sent to the Ministry of Resettlement, ceremoniously to NPC Member, Dr.G.Gunaseelan, day before yesterday.

It had been stated in this memorandum that Pannavedduwan coming under the Madhu Divisional Secretary’s area is an ancient village originated around 200 years ago. around 20 families lived there engaging in agriculture and cattle breeding as their livelihood.

Due to the floods in 1958 , they were displaced  to various parts of Mannar , returned to their village from time to time they used to go to their village carry on agricultural and cattle breeding. The village was under Army control from 1990 – 2005.

The people who lived in this village wish to resettle in their ancient village.

Hence please be kind to make speedy arrangements for us to resettle into our own village, they had said.
