Speedy action to settle 250 families in Navatkuli with housing
250 families which have encroached into state lands in various places in Jaffna District will be settled soon in Navatkuli , and activities for providing with housing will be commenced next month, said the Deputy Minister of Housing and Construction, Indika Bandara.
A meeting to discuss the settlements in Jaffna District and needs of people in housing was held at the Jaffna District Secretariat yesterday, jointly presided my the Minister and the District Secretary, Jaffna, N.Vethanayagan.
The Minister said as above, while speaking to media after the meeting.
The people in the North are confronted with several problems after the war. Most important of them are lack of land and housing. We are planning to undertake 200 housing schemes all over the country and solve the problems of the encroached people.
Thus there are 60 acres in Navatkulai and we will organize the people who had encroached there. Flats will be constructed there and 250 families will be settled there. This project will be commenced next month and we will give full support for that project, he said.
