Relatives of accident victims thank Tamil brethren and Hospital staff for help. Bodies taken to south in special flight

The bodies of 10 victims of the horrible accident at Chavakacheri  were taken  to south in a special flight provided by the Air Force and one body was taken in a vehicle.

10 people from Mathampai in Chilaw were killed on the spot in the accident where the Hi-Ace van was involved in a head on collision with a SLTB bus. Another passenger of the van died in ICU of Jaffna Teaching hospital.

Seven of the victims were from Mathampai, 2 from Kalitha plantation 1 from  Patharagama and one from Matale.

After a verdict of accidental death,10 of the bodies were air lifted with the cooperation of the Air Force to Colombo, Ratmalana Air Port  in a special flight and thereafter by vehicles to their native places.

As the relatives had congregated in the Teaching Hospital, the Hospital Administration arranged food and other facilities to them, said the Director, Sathiyamoorthy.

Meanwhile,  the relatives of the victims gratefully thanked Jaffna people who had helped during the incident in many ways. Particularly, some relatives mentioned that although they were thinking that the Northerners are hating them, they are the people who provided the necessary help going beyond all racial and religious prejudices.

We shall not the help rendered by Tamil people to recover the bodies and injured of our relatives from wreckage and admit them to the hospital and the Hospital administration which provided food and lodging during our stay here, they said.
