Give us a definite date for release of our lands, Kepapulavu and Pulavukudiyiruppu people in demonstration
The people of Kepapulavu and Pulavukudiyiruppu have gone into a demonstration struggle in front of the Army Camp in Kepapulavu, saying that the Government Officials and the Army are cheating them and calling the Army to give a definite date for the release of their lands. This struggle had extended into the night yesterday.
The struggling people said that when they went on 18th, the OIC of the camp had shown their lands and said that they released lands and clear them after getting letters from the Forest Department. When the Forest Department was contacted they are trying drag on the releasing saying various excuses.
The people were first asked to assemble on the 24th by the forest Department for inspection of the area, but the officials had visited the area on 23. Later the GS had called the people to assemble yesterday. But yesterday also the officials had not come. The people got angered by the lethargy of the officials, had assembled before the Air Force Camp and staging their protest.
Yesterday, they bowed that they will continue their struggle till a definite date is given to them foe the release of their lands.
