If the lands are not released within one month, Struggle will blast in Vali North, like Kepapulavu

The Joint Development Group of Five villages of Kankesanthurai, Myliddy, Palaly, Uranyand Thaiyiddi have announced that if their lands are not released within one month, they will commence a continuous struggle like Kepapulavu people. They also accused that the lands are being released after houses in were demolished to the ground.

The Executive Committee of the group held a press conference yesterday at the Jaffna Press Club. Although some areas are released in KKs, Thayiddy and Urany in the Vali-North HSZ, Most of the areas are under the control of the Army and police. Railway Station, public buildings temples and churches are not released. Although few buildings are released, they are in a highly demolished state preventing anything could be done immediately. Although the Nadeswara College is released and operating now, Army is stationed around it and people find it difficult to move around freely. If people are to move freely the Army should get out from there.

The people of these 5 villages are suffering for more than 27 years. More than 6,000 are unable to even look at their lands. More than Rs.500,000 were earned daily from our villages earlier. If the villages are released our people will earn this income for the country.

Immediate settlement is not possible as the houses and wells have been demolished in full. We request all people to help these 6,000 families to get their lands, they said.
