Granting time without finding out the wish of the affected people is a wrong decision, the relatives of Missing persons

The war at Mulliwaikkal was not waged in accordance with international norms. The final war was conducted as a war to massacre innocent people. What the countries of the world assisted for is that. They were never concerned of our security. Even now they have decided to grant time to safeguard Sri Lanka. This is a one sided decision without finding out the wishes of the affected people, said the Vanni Region Coordinator of the Voice for the forcefully made to disappear in North and East organization, Krishnapillai Thevarajah.

He speaking at the press conference held on behalf of the people made to disappear at the Jaffna Press club, yesterday.

Elaborating further he said, asking for time at Geneva is unacceptable while there are more than 20,000 people made to disappear. The whereabouts of the 287 handed over at the end of the war in Mulliwaikal is not known to date. Their aged parents are forced to undertake struggle without being concerned of their old age. People have started to struggle out of frustration in Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Trincomalee and other places. However our representatives are acting according tom their own wish, forgetting the reason for sending them there.  Representatives of the people will learn their mistakes soon or they will be taught their lessons by the people.

Especially India and America should be concerned of the interests of the affected people. They cannot be supporting Sri Lanka all the time. If they continue to do that they lose the faith of the Tamil people, he said.
