8,332 persons afflicted with Dengu in 4 months in North and East

During the first 4 months of 2017, more than 8,332 persons have been affected by Dengu in North and East.

As per the data regarding Dengu for last week , from the Infectious Disease Division of the Health Ministry, 2,048 persons from Jaffna District, 346 from Mannar District, 324 from Vavuniya District, 1890 from Kilinochchi and 87 from Mulaitheevu district had been recorded as afflicted with Dengu. As per this a total 2,985 persons are afflicted with Dengu in the Northern Province.

It has been recorded that a total of 5,347 person of the Eastern Province had been afflicted with Dengu. In this the Trincoimalee District has the most number afflicted with Dengu at 3,476 followed by Batticaloa district with 696 victims, with 175 persons affected in Amparai District.

Country wise, 34,059 had been affected by Dengu and 61 of them had succumbed to it. It is also notable that Colombo District is the most affected with 7, 540 victims.
