Full shut down today in Homeland

A complete hartal was observed today  in the  North and Eastern provinces. Political parties, Public Organizations, Religious dignitaries, students teachers and traders extended their full support for this Hartal organized by the relatives of the missing persons.

This Harthl is held demanding the information on people made to disappear after being handed over to the Security Forces and the release of lands of people occupied by Security Forces.

In a context where unprecedented pledges of supports are heaping up, it is expected that today’s Hartal  has sent a strong message to both the Sri Lankan Government and the International community.

Daily routines were disrupted as shops were closed and government institutions including schools and Universities did not function in the districts of Jaffna, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Trincomalee , Batticaloa and Mullaitivu.

Medical and very essential services will operate without any hindrance the organizers said.
