Fisheries Department Officials partial to Sinhalese Fishermen: Northern Fishermen

The Federation of Northern has accused that as the Fisheries Officials are acting partial to Sinhalese fishermen, the Sinhalese fishermen are acting even in contravention to Courts order.

This was pointed out in a press conference held by the Federation at the Jaffna Press Club yesterday regarding the transgression of Indian Trawlers and Southern Sri Lankan Fishermen in the Northern seas.

The Sinhalese fishermen are continuing to object setting up of a landing point for Tamil Fishermen at the Kokkilai Beach. Finally they are continuing their fishing activities in complete contravention of the court orders and they are behaving in a way threatening the Government Officials. The Officials of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, from bottom to top, being partial to the Southern Fishermen in the reason behind the behavior of the Southern Fishermen.

Enormous problems have been caused by this partiality, they said.
