Commemoration of Mulliwaikkal Genocide commences at Chemmany
The Commemoration Week for the thousands of people killed during the final stage of the Warat Mulliwaikal commenced yesterday with a commemoration event being held at Chemmany which is another site of Genocide during Chandrika’s rule.
This commemoration events was held under the aegis of the NPC MPc M.K.Sivagilingam at Chemmany yesterday. The NPC Leader of the Opposition S.Thavarasa, NPC MPcs Mrs. Ananthy Saseetharan,P.Kajatheeban, A. Paramsaothy, Vinthan Kanagaratnam were among the several people who participated in this event.
The commemoration of the genocide perpetrated against the Tamil People at Mulliwaikal and other places in being observed the world over by Tamil people as Mulliwaikkal Commemoration week from 12 – 18th May annually.
The Commemoration week started with an event at Chemmany with lighting of sacrificial flame and floral and other tributes paid to the killed innocents. The 2nd day will be observed at Vadamaradchi with the third at the site of the adoption on Vaddukkoddai resolution and St. Peter’s church at Navaly. Kumuthiny Victim’s memorial will be the site on 15th, at Vavuniya and Kilinochchi on 16th, at Mannar on 17th and finally at Mulliwaikkal on 18th under the aegis of NPC with the CM presiding over the events.
