More powerful bombs recovered from Thaiyidd well and Unrecoverable explosives to be blasted inside the well

Yesterday also, more UXOs including more than 60 powerful shells, 8 Para-shells and 21 hand grenades were recovered from the well in Thaiyiddy, Where last week also UXO were recovered from the same well.

One batch of lands under the control of the Army in Kankesanthurai were released recently. In this context people are in the process of cleaning their lands.

Few days ago UXOs were recovered from a well in Vali North, Thaiyiddy, J/247 Grama Officer area. More UXOs were recovered from the same well yesterday also. When the Land Owner was clearing his well, he noticed some explosives. On his information the investigated the area and removed some explosives. After recovering the said explosives yesterday, they also found some UXOs  un-recoverable and deep in the mud. They have obtained a court order to blast UXOs inside the well itself. Accordingly the UXOs will be blasted today and the public is warned to stay away from the area.

Further, ammunition were recovered from the well from which 2 Motor cycles were recovered. It is notable that army men came and plucked off the number plates from the Motor cycles, recovered from the well.

However the people of the area are highly concerned and shocked by the continuous recovery of UXO s from their area which was supposed to de-mined before handing over to the people.
