Two Ministers of NPC recommended to be removed by the Fraud/ Corruption Inquiries Board
If the Northern Provincial Council is to operate efficiently, two of the Ministers of the NPC have to be removed , the committee appointed by the CM has recommended.
Few months back several alleged frauds and corruption charges were leveled against the Ministers of the NPC and brought to the notice of the CM. CM appointed a committee consisting of retired judges S.Thiyagendran and S.Paramarajah and a retired District Secretary, S.Pathmanathan were appointed by the CM to investigate the charges against the Ministers.
This committee appointed on last September 26th and commenced its task in last November. The final report of the Committee was handed over to the CM on May 19th. The 82 page report in Tamil had been divided into sections of The mandate, Methodology, Accusations on the Ministers, Findings and Recommendations.
While releasing Ministers P.Deneeswaran and P.Sathyalingam have been cleared by the Committee , it has recommended that Ministers Ainkaranesan and Kurukularaja be removed from their posts.
It has also recommended that the Secretaries to these Ministries had aided and abetted the ministers be transferred.
It is notable that NPC Members Ananthy Saseetharan and Sugirthan who earlier had leveled charges against the ministers, failed to appear before the Committee even once to cooperate.
