Homage paid for Maveerars for political gains: condemns TPNF
“The homages paid to maveerars after letting their dreams for the freedom motherland to be blown away in the air, and for political benefits will not be accepted by those holy souls.” Said Selvarajah Kajendran, the General Secretary of the Tamil People National Front.
The 43rd commemoration of the death of the first ever liberation fighter to destroy himself biting a Cyanide capsule when the Sri Lankan police had surrounded him while undertaking some task relevant liberation struggle during the early days of the Liberation struggle and an old boy of Jaffna Hindu “Thiyagi” Pon Sivakumaran was observed yesterday, near his statue at Urumpirai, his native place, at around 5 p.m., presided by the NPC Leader of the Opposition, S.Thavarasa.
In a context where a puppet of India and western world has risen to the power, all factions including the TNA are playing a drama of allowing to a certain extent, the commemoration of Maveerars to be held. This done create an opinion that some freedom is given to Tamil people and for giving up the investigations against the war crimes of Mahindha Rajapakse.
The commemorations are important. But the Tamil Leadership had thrown the ideals of the Maveerars to dogs and just keep a picture of the Maveerar, garland it and hold meetings just for making political gains. The recognition of this commemorations are only for hoodwinking the International Community.
True recognition will be attained only when our right are won. Let us commit ourselves to win over our rights and continue our journey, he said.
M.K.Sivajilingam said that there is no point in placing faith on this Government. Leader Sampanthan and CM Wigneswaran should transform into a double barreled gun.
The Leader of EPRLF, Suresh Premachandran said that, we are observing the 43 anniversary Sivakumaran who rose against the oppression of the police and Army, but even after 43 years of losing Sivakumaran, thousands of fighters and hundreds of thousands of our people we are back to square one.
