Navy hinder devotees worshiping at the church at Poonakary

Affected Catholic people alleged that as the Navy is utilizing the compound of the catholic Church in Poonakary they are unable worship at times suitable to them.

Navy has made camp behind the Catholic in the Pallikudah village. The Church compound is being used for their various purposes and we are unable worship at the whenever we wanted.

They are even using the church yard to play games. The Navy earlier attempted to acquire the lands inclusive of the Church premises. When the Survey Department came to measure the land for this purpose, it had to be abandoned by the strong opposition of the area people.

Hence the people say that the officials should get their rights to worship freely at the church.

“The here had said earlier that they are shifting the camp. It was scheduled to be shifted during the tail end last year. But, so far no action had been taken to shift the camp.”, said the Poonakary Divisional Secretary.
