Following uprising of the people ITAK withdraw the No confidence letter against CM
The Ilankai Thamil Arasuk Kadchchi has withdrawn the No-Confidence motion they brought against the CM, C.V.Wigneswaran. Breaking all protocols, the supposed to be neutral, the Leader of the House, C.V.K.Sivagnnam handed over the letter to the Governor, Reginold Cooray, who gleefully accepted it.
Following this , on the last 15th youth gathered in support of the CM. On the 16th The Tamil People’s Council rang a call for a full Hartal and a rally. The Hartal was resounding success despite a short announcement and spontaneous crowds on their own transports (In the other days public and private transports were used to bring crowds in for rallies and protests ) in their thousands to go in procession from Nallur Temple to CM’s residence to pledge their support to him. Other protest rallies were held all over North. The total momentum of these pushed the ITAK into a worst crisis situation, unprecedented in its history.
Compromise attempts were widespread, undertaken by Tamil MPs and constituent parties of the TNA. However superseding their attempts, religious dignitaries in the make of the Chief Priest of Nallai Aatheenam, Bishop of Jaffna and their labours bore fruit in a agreement being reached between, CM, Wigneswaran, Leader of the TNA Saampanthar and Leader of ITAK , Mawai Senathyrasa.
Consequently, Sampanthar announced that the No-Confidence Motion against the CM will be withdrawn. Reciprocating his offer the CM had agreed that the minister asked go on leave will continue their work with some conditions but the investigation on them will continue.
The withdrawal announcement resulted in people celebrating it with lighting crackers.
