Being united is the strength for Tamils, says CM, C.V.Wigneswaran

There is no room for an alternate leadership now. It will be a great strength to Tamils to be united under the present leadership, said the NPC CM, C.V.Wignewaran. The Ambassador of Canada for Sri Lanka, Shelly Whiting met the CM yesterday. The meeting occurred at the Official residence of the CM. The CM met the media afterwards.

He was asked for his comments regarding a suggestion that the CM should become an alternate Leader, being placed in a recent discussion where discussions were held regarding an alternate leadership for Tamils.

“There is nothing to be decided about an alternate Leadership now. We are now in a strategically important period. It is true that, our political problems should be solved. In this juncture, it is not in favour of the interest of the Tamil people, causing splits among us placing forward our private enmity and conflicts. There is no room for a split here. , he answered.

He also commented on the visit of the Ambassador. He said it was a courtesy call and that the Ambassador had said that when he visited the north 4 years ago intelligence followed him. It is not so now. You are progressing now.  The non-commissioning of the Office for missing persons is a matter for concern. If that office operates the Tamil people will be able to solve their problems in a due way. Canadian people are ready to help you. We will implement these schemes in the future in a proper way, he had said.
