Gota says no permission granted to scrape KKS machineries, but Billions  lost by the North

Former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapakse has filed an Affidavit to the special Presidential Commission appointed to inquire the cutting and selling as scrape of the Plant and Machineries of KKS Cement factory, saying that he had not authorized the deal. He has filed this affidavit against  two High level Army Officers including a former Army Commander and a Senior government Official.

A special Presidential Commission is inquiring about KKS Cement Factory plant and machinery being cut and sold as scrape for 100 Million rupees by the Army. This criminal fraud is alleged to have occurred between 2011 to 2015. Documents regarding this fraud had been captured by the Commission.

The Former Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Siripala Hettiarachchi had testified before the Commission that Gotabhaya gave an official order for the above scraping saying that, the former state leader, Mahindha Rajapakse had approved the deal. The Internal Audit had protested that Cabinet Approval is necessary for this deal.

It is known now the cut iron was sold to Siraz Mohamed, Yusup Asthan and a retired Army Officer Ekkanayake. The scrape sold to Officer Ekkanayake was sold for 75 Million Rupees.

Inquiries had been made from former Army Commander, Daya Ratnayake, Former commanders of Security Forces , Jaffna, Major Generals Mahintha Hathurusinghe, Uthaya Perera, the Additional Secretary, Siripala Hettiarachchi, Siraz Mohamed, and Yusup Asthan.

However reliable independent sources said that the Factory was left by the Whole staff in the year 1990 in a full capacity working condition, due to the disturbed situation in the country. This source also said that the total purchase value of the plant and machinery run into Billions. Similar amount was lost from the Sri Lanka Cement Company near KKS Cement Factory of the Sri Lanka Cement Corporation, taking the total to more than 3 Billions, said the sources.
