Inquiries to be made from Minister Wijekala Maheswaran over ‘Swizz Kumar’s escape
Inquiries are to be made from the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs and Children’s Affairs, Mrs. Wijekala Maheswaran regarding the Murder case of Punkudutheevu student Vidya.
When incident occurred, the village people had caught the main suspect of the case Swizz Kumar and had bound him to a post. Wijeyakala is accused of releasing him without handing him over to the police.
The Kayts Magistrate had ordered the CID to obtain a statement from Wijekala Maheswaran. The magistrate ordered as such following a request from the AALs of SDIG Lalith Jayasinghe who had been remanded accused of aiding the escape of Swizz Kumar to Colombo. The AALs said that the CID had not inquired about this and they have submitted a video in this connection.
The Magistrate had ordered the CID to make inquiries about this allegation and to record a statement from Wijeyakala. Further he had ordered to inquire about how the former Dean of the Law Faculty of University of Colombo, V.T.Thamizhmaran had come into contact with the main suspect.
