Violence has gone beyond limit…Search and arrest will be continued through STF: says IGP

The violence and illegal incidents have gone beyond tolerable limits. Therefore all arms of the Security forces including STF, Army and Navy will be put into the field for special Search and Arrest Operations. These special operations will be continued until illegal incidents crimes and violence are brought under control, said IGP, Pujitha Jayasunthara in Jaffna.

Following the abnormal situation prevailing in the Jaffna, the IGP has undertaken a sudden visit to Jaffna  held a press conference in the Jaffna Police Head Quarters yesterday.

Speaking there he further said, two police officers were set upon by a sword wielding gang and they are receiving treatment. We have identified the leader of the gang. He is a former Militant and a member of the Ava group.

We have organized operations to arrest the persons involved in the attack and those who are helping them. Until all of them are arrested, our search and arrest operations will continue. Assistance will be obtained from the Army and the Navy. Through this only the criminals could be weaned and the security of the people of these areas could be assured. Our operations will be undertaken without hurting the general public and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to the general Public, he said.
