Cases of Tamil Political prisoners should not be transferred to the South, relatives request CM
The relatives of the Tamil Political Prisoners met the NPC CM yesterday and complained to him that the government is trying to transfer the cases of the political prisoners to the south and requested him to pressurize the government to hear the cases of the TPPs in the North itself.
A section of the relatives of the Tamil Political Prisoners met the CM yesterday led by Member of the NPC, Velupillai Sivayogan and had discussions with the CM.
They submitted the above request during this meeting. The cases were heard at Anuradhapura for a long time and they were heard at the Vavuniya for the last few years, they said.
Further they said that, attempts are being made transfer the cases of the TPPs to the South and this was intimated to them by the TPPs themselves and requested the CM to intervene and exert pressure on the government and get the TPPs released.
Particularly, in the context of cases of 3 TPPs were being heard for the last 4 years at the Vavuniya court, attempts are being made to transfer them to courts in the South.
In this context, the relatives of the TPPs had and urgent meeting with the CM and placed the request to him.
They also had pointed out to the CM that, although their relatives had been said to be arrested under the PTA, their names are not in the list of persons arrested under PTA published recently.
The CM then promised to them that he will talk to the AALs and take necessary action.
The so called Good governance is continuing to cheat them, they said to the media later.
