If our cases are transferred we will go into fasting: warn the TPPs
The Tamil political prisoners announced on Tuesday that if their case hitherto taken up for hearing in Vavuniya Court are transferred to courts in the south, they will go into fasting in protest of such attempts. They announced this in open court.
The case against TPPs, M.Sulaxan and G.Tharsan were taken up for hearing before Vavuniya High court Judge, Balendran Sashimahendran.
Although, it was earlier announced that this case will be taken up for trial, the TID informed the court that the witnesses are not present. He also said that they are contemplating about transferring the cases to other Courts.
Then the Judge said that 4 years have passed after the case is filed and the suspects are in jail for 8 years and put away the case file.
The case was recalled after all the other cases are heard. The judge said then if the court is not informed of a decision on 23rd , the court will take a firm decision.
At this time one of the TPP raised his hands asking permission to say something. On the permission of the judge he said that he is speaking on their case should not be changed to other courts. And if it is attempted to transfer the case to other courts, they will go into fasting protest after informing the Commissioner of Prisons.
