The struggle for Missing persons will continue indefinitely: says Ananthy Sasitharan

The struggle we are undertaking will not be limited to our period, the next generation will bear our torch, said the NPC Minister of  Women’s Affairs, Ananthy Saseetharan to the Representatives of Human Rights  Watch, who met her day before yesterday.

A delegation of the Human Rights Watch who had come on a visit to Jaffna had a meeting with NPC Minister of  Women’s Affairs, Ananthy Saseetharan to learn about the practical problems. This meeting was held day before yesterday at the Office of the NPC Minister of  Women’s Affairs, Ananthy Saseetharan.

It is very cruel living with inquietude giving questions like  ‘are the persons  who went missing after handing over to the Army are still alive? or not” it is giving eternal pain of mind every moment like a termites eating up their prey.

It is no secret that countries like, America, Japan ,  European countries along with India were behind the war efforts of Sri Lanka. But we handed over our relatives to the Army on the faith we had on these countries. So these countries have an obligations with regard to the missing persons, she had said.

To a question of the delegation as to whether your struggle will come to an end if accounting is done with regard to missing persons, she had said , in the matter of missing persons, Sri Lanka Government,UN, India and  Co-chairs must account for missing persons.

If justice is delivered in this regard our next generation is getting ready to continue the struggle, she had said.
