Mulaitheevu Divisional Office sieged demanding release of Lands acquired by Army

Owners of the 11.25 acre land occupied by the Army, sieged the Mullaitheevu Divisional Secretariat demanding the immediate release of their lands. They engaged in their struggle in pouring rain.

When the started their struggle in last February, the Army promised to release 7.75 acre belonging to 20 people in 2 weeks and 10 acre land in 3 months and the Ponnamampalm hospital will be released in 6 months. The people abandoned the struggle with the release of 7.75 acre. But although 7 months have passed  Army has not released the second stage.

In this context people blocked the road for about half an hour and finally MP, Sivamohan promised that a solution will be found in the Coordination Committee meting to be held on 23.10.2017, people dispersed peacefully.
