Merger of North and East is the exclusive concept of the TNA: Minister Rauf Hakeem

The Merger of North and East found in the interim report is the exclusive concept of the TNA. Some people are using this for their propaganda, said the Leader of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, and Minister Rauf Hakeem.

Different interpretations are given to the term “Aekiya Rata”. Strong propaganda is undertaken about this term. Even the Lawyers Association also had taken up this term.

In a context where it has been clearly stated in the draft that the country will remain undivided under Aekiya Rajya it is big question why the lawyers had taken up this term.

We are convinced in that we should not pass the National Problem to the next generation. That is why we are providing all the cooperation to such endeavors.

The TNA has placed North & East merger as its proposal. It is not the stance of the Guidance Committee.

Southern politicians and some Muslim Politicians who call themselves leaders are undertaking propaganda. They are saying that the SLMC is keeping mum in this matter. However they are comfortably hiding that the Hela Urumaya has stated that no province should be merged with another.

The senior politicians in Era Samapanthan and Mawai Anna have said the the merger will be undertaken with the consensus of the Muslim people.

What justifiability is there in saying that TNA  and SLMC are  going to merge N&E , Leaving all these out? , he asked .
