Sinhalese do not like to share the power: That is the reason for race conflict, says CM, Wigneswaran
The reason behind the current race conflict is that the Sinhalese leaders are refusing to share the power they got from the English with the Tamil speaking people, said the Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council, Justice C.V.Wigneswaran.
When the English left the country, they handed over all the powers to Sinhalese leaders, sincerely hoping that they will make the minorities to live a just, honest and self- respecting life. But the Sinhalese leaders who acted like righteous men, showed their real self out after the English left.
Sir Soulbury had with one Deformer, 10 years after granting independence that, if he had known that the Sinhalese leaders would act like this he would have arranged for a Federal system. Those came forward to compromise when the hands of the Liberation Tigers were up, changed over to the older stance.
If Mahindha Rajapakse will say that no power devotion should be made within unitary state, I will also say the same thing, but on the same breath I will also say that we want Federal System.
As far as I am concerned, if the ethical problem of this country is to be solved, the federal system which has been demanded from 1949 will be able to do some good to Tamil speaking people.
