Ariyalai Shooting: STF Intelligence operatives including an officer arrested
An STF SI and a constable were arrested by the Officers of the CID, on suspicion relevant to the shooting of a youth at Ariyalai, yesterday morning.
Relevant to the above incident, statements were obtained from 7 officers of the STF Intelligence unit and two of them were arrested yesterday and were produced before Magistrate of the Magistrate court Jaffna, S.Saseetharan, at his residence, he ordered to remanded suspects, till 16th of this month.
Don Bosco Rick man of Ariyalai East, Uthayapuram, was shot by unidentified persons on the last 22nd at 2.30 p.m. and subsequently, he succumbed to his injuries on the same day at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
In context where all security forces wings were suspected of the murder, police had undertaken inquiries in several angles and captured several shreds of evidence including a CCTV recording.On the basis of these, the suspicion was focused on the STF and the inquiries were taken over by the CID, Colombo. They made inquiries at the STF camp in Pannai accordingly, on Monday and they captured the motorcycle, Pistol, and Auto from the STF camp.
On the basis of the evidenced received, 7 officers of the STF camp were subjected to inquiries and statements were obtained from them.
In this context, STF SI, Mallawarachchi Pradeep Nishanthan and Police Constable Rathnayake Mudiyansalage Inthika Pushpakumare were arrested and remanded till 16th of this month.
