Likelihood of TNA rule in Jaffna Municipality, EPDP and UNP announce un-conditional Support

The EPDP and UNP have announced unconditional support for TNA to establish rule in the Jaffna Municipality. No party had secured clear majority in the North in the LG Elections held recently. Because of this, government has to be formed in LG Bodies, which are in a state of suspension, with the support of other parties.

The Civil Society in the North had insisted that the Tamil Parties should get together to strengthen  the administrations in LG Bodies. In this context, the EPDP and UNP have offered to support TNA from outside, it is learnt.

The EPDP has announced that it will support parties which have won more seats in the LG Bodies to for the Government six months which is being given to undertake projects based on people’s interest shall be extended depending on administrative Efficiency. The UNP has announced that it will support TNA in Jaffna Municipality as the TNA is supporting UNP in the Parliament, it is learnt.
