61 acre which were under the control of the Army released yesterday

Yesterday also saw 61 acre lands of people which were under the control of the Army in the Jaffna Peninsula being released from the grip of the Army to people’s use. Some areas of Vali North which were under the control of the Army for 28 years were released yesterday. They are being released as per an order of the President who made a visit to kilinochchi yesterday, it is reported.

The state Leader who went to Kilinochchi District day before yesterday declared there that 120 acre of lands which were under the control of the Army in Jaffna and Mulaitheevu Districts will be released.

13 acres in J/245 – vasavilan West, 11 in J/251- Myliddythurai North, 10 in J/244-Vasavilan East, 10 in J/252 – Palaly South, and 17 in J/254 – Palaly North, altogether a total of 61 acre were released yesterday. Vali North RCMS and Vairavar Kovil were released completely. However people who searched for Palaly North GTMS, finally found only the foundations of that school.

People were allowed to go into the released area yesterday itself. Action is being taken to expedite the resettlement of people in the released areas, said the Chairman of Vali North PS, S.Sukirthan.
