We need Investors who will embrace us along, says CM, C.V.Wigneswaran

I am a person who have seen several countries which lost the peaceful life of people and environment in the guise of Development. I am a person who have met several persons who hold money above all. We are not prepared to give our valuable life and environment into the hands of morons treading in ignorance. We are expecting investors friendly to us, who will learn about our traditions and who could embrace us along with courtesy and morality, said CM, C.V.Wigneswaran.

The CM said so addressing the gathering after opening a bridge linking Allaipiddy and Mandaitheevu, yesterday at around 8.30 a.m.

Projects that will gobble Mandaitheevu

Several people from in and out of the country are submitting development projects for Mandaitheevu. We have not approved such projects at the very outset  but had handed them over to Professional Expert Groups so that these large  Projects will not be ones that could swallow the whole of Mandaitheevu or which will spoil the uniqueness of Mandaitheevu or in which people from outside the Province will come and hold economicaldominance here.

Local people should benefit

The Marine resources found here should be properly utilized. They should benefit the local people. The productivity of the Agricultural lands should be increased. Mandaitheevu is abundant with Coconuts and Allqaipiddy with Palmyrahs. There is nothing wrong in we thinking that their uniqueness should be preserved, he said.

The above bridge located on Mandaitheevu – Allaipiddy link road was severely damaged during the war and was  in an unusable state for the people to travel. It is notable that, a situation existed where the people of Mandaitheevu had to travel a long distance to attend their matters in the Velanai Divisional Secretariat.
