6 year old student strangled to death in Chulipuram
A six year old schoolgirl has been strangled to death in Chulipuram. Her corpse was recovered from a well with injuries on the forehead and neck.
Sivaneswaran Regina (Aged 6 years), a grade 1 student at the Chulipuram Kadduppulam ATM School was the one who was found murdered in the well.
The parents had gone yesterday for their usual labour work. Regina and her siblings went to school and she had returned from school at 1.30p.m. Her school bag was found at her home.
Her parents, who had come home a little later, raised a search in the neighbourhood for her as she was not in home. Failing find her, they rallied the help of the neighbours and extended the search for her.
They found her corpse floating in a well around 200M away from her home in her inner garments. The neighbours recovered the body from the well and informed the police. The police immediately came to the spot inspected the body and commenced inquiries and collected evidences.
The uniform of the girl went missing and injuries were found on her forehead and neck and further the ear studs of the child had been stolen. The Mallakam Magistrate A.A. Anandarajah, conducted inquiries and ordered that the body be handed over to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for post-mortem.
Police is undertaking inquiries in an angle that the child could have been murdered.
