Increase in Crimes in North: CM requests the president to take action to stop them

The NPC CM, C.V.Wigneswaran has requested the President Maithripala Sirisena to take action to stop the Criminal activities that have increased beyond all proportions.

The CM has placed this request in a letter he had sent to the President.

He has further pointed out to  the President to obtain an immediate report relevant to actions that should be taken to stop these criminal activities, from a group of Police Officers and Provincial Public Officers.

Criminal activities have increased all of a sudden. Action should be taken immediately to stop Violence and Drug Abuse.

He has asked to form a group led by a SDIG in service  or a retired SDIG, inclusive of the officers of the NPC and  task them to study, criminal activities such Distribution of drugs, their usage and sand smuggling and to provide an immediate report.

Reminding of the meeting with the President recently, where the president had said he is unable to release Ananthasuthakaran, and the welcome of the President to his suggestion that Suthaharan be transferred to a prison where the children could easily go an meet him, he had asked the President to take due action about it.

Finally he has mentioned the 5 years delay in approving the PM’s Fund and has asked whether the government does not like the development of the North.
