Without the need being fulfilled, people cannot resettle points out the CM

Even though the lands of the people had been released, they could not resettle in their lands without their basic necessities being fulfilled, the NPC CM, C.V.Wigneswaran.

A discussion among the Minister of Foreign Minister, Thilak Marapana, Minister of Local Government, Vajira Abeywardene, NPC CM, C.V.Wigneswaran and state Officials was held yesterday at the District Secretariat,Jaffna.

In this discussion the Foreign Minister has said that he had heard that resettlement activities are undertaken on a slow pace and the people are not settling in the released land, and requested a honest statement on the real situation regarding them.

Replying him the CM said the they are resettling for several reasons such as

* Housing schemes not being received although land had been release and unable to build their house.

* unable to resettle because the presence of the army in close proximity to the released lands.

* unable to resettle because  of the Army not leaving the released lands.

He has also said that only around 50% of the lands have been released and that he will send a document regarding this, which is available with him.
