Massive demonstration by the relatives of Missing Persons, against OMP in Jaffna

The relatives of the missing persons undertook a massive protest Demonstration against the Office for Missing persons yesterday at Jaffna.

A discussion between the Commissioner of OMP and the relatives of the missing persons was held yesterday at the Weerasingam hall yesterday.

The relatives siege Weerasingam hall and expressed their opposition to OMP saying they don’t have faith in the OMP, No constructive action could be taken by the OMP, first the current situation of the Missing persons should be announced and then only any activity should be taken relevant to them.

A situation of un-rest was created at the place and police were called in and thereafter the meeting commenced. Several relatives engaged in protest outside Weerasingam hall, saying they have no faith in the OMP, while some other relatives participated in the meeting in the hope of bringing out their problems and distresses.
