Commemorating Scorching of tender shoots with aerial bombing in “Chencholai Masscre”
The 12thannual commemoration of the victims of Chencholai Massacre where, 61 people including 54 A/L students who could have been the cream of our society, 4 employees, were killed mercilessly by the ‘Kafir Fighter jets’ of the Sri Lankan Air Force was held yesterday at the Vallipunam area where the Chencholai was located.
The Sri Lankan government immediately claimed that all killed are terrorists. However local and Foreign NGOs rushing to the site confirmed that they were no combatants. This event was observed in a specially prepared venue.
The photographs of the massacred people were placed in the venue, memorial flames lighted and floral tributes paid sentimentally. Several people including Politicians , relatives of the victims, members of the public participated in this event.
The TNPF commemorated them at its Batticaloa Head Office.
The students of the University of Jaffna held a commemoration in the University Premises.
