All Tamil Parties in the same table in the East yesterday

A historical event of all the Tamil Parties in the East getting into negotiations at the same table for the first time in the history of the East, on Wednesday morning at Baticaloa.

This get together was held at the Rasamanickam Hall in Kaluwanchchikudi.  Twelve parties including ITAK, TELO,PLOT, EPRLF, TSDP,TMVP, EROS and EPDP participated in this negotiation. Eastern Tamil federation had organized this negotiation with a view to contesting under a common symbol in the PC elections in the Eastern Province. K. Thurairajasingam , the Secretary ITAK, and Gna. Sirinesan on behalf of ITAK, former Deputy Chairman of Eastern Province, Prasanna Indrakumar and former MPc, Karunakaram on behalf of TELO, The General Secretary of TMVP, P.Prasanthan on behalf of TMVP, The Leader of the TULF, V. Ananthasangaree on behalf of TULF, On behalf of TSDP, its President, T.Sritharan and district and Pradeshiya organizers of other parties participated in this meeting. Opinions were exchanged on the existence Tamils in the Eastern province, activities of Political parties and on the problems faced by Tamils in the contemporary period in the East.

Further ideas were put forward regarding the  Tamil Parties contesting under a common symbol and regarding the ruling power in the east. Optimism prevailed in that a memorandum of understanding being signed among the parties and the opportunity will be created for the parties to contest under a common symbol.
