Sampanthan replies to CM: Participating in Task Force will not affect solution attempt or war crimes investigations

TNA Leader Era Sampanthan has replied the NPC CM, C.V.Wigneswaran that the participation of TNA in the Presidential Task Force for Development of North and East will not cause any delay in the endeavour for Political solution , any effect on UNHRC War Crimes Investigation and  our unity will not be blemished.

Last week the CM wrote a letter to Sampanthan that any economic development should be preceded by Political solution and the participation of TYNA in the Task Force is detrimental to the interest of the Tamil people. The people who don’t like us participating in the Task Force understand this.

Invitation had been extended to the TNA MPs as well as the CM. However CM did not participate in the initial sitting and had written a letter to Sampanthan insisting that they should not participate in the TF.

However while central committee of TNA has rejected the calling of the CM and it has been reported that the CM was harshly criticized in this meeting by several TNA MPs. We have taken this decision with the welfare of the People of N&E and the Development of N&E affected by war, in view.

The President himself had extended the invitation. We cannot simply reject it. People of N&E had elected us as their sole representatives. It is our duty to fulfil their expectations. All though we will participate in the TF, we will looking other matters including the political solution one by one, he had said.
