Action taken to grant land permits to1,000 Sinhalese within 6 months, says, Sivasakthy Ananthan
TNA MP, Sivasakthy Ananthan accused that, action being taken to grant land permits in Mahaweli L Zone, to Sinhalese within the next 6 months.
A massive protest Rally was held yesterday demanding to stop the Sinhala Colonization in the guise of Mahaweli Development. Speaking there the MP said as above.
Permits for lands of Tamil people have been given to Sinhala people so that they could settle here, in three stages. 2,00 acre were given to Sinhala people during Mahindha regime and the Maithri regime have given the permits for those lands. In the second stage Sinhalese people in Manalaru was given permits in the mobile Kachcheri held at Vavuniya in the presence of Tamil representatives. As a third stage, 8 Sinhala people have been given permits on the 6th of this month
When President asked for evidences nobody told him that 8 persons were granted land permit in the L Zone. Neither did they say about the action that is being taken to grant permits to more than 1,000 people.
Although the government was safeguarded all along its 3 ½ years rule, neither the land problem nor the problem of the missing persons were solved.
Hence a struggle beyond party politics will give pressure on the Government and solve the problems , he said.
