People’s lands could be released only if alternate lands and money is give, says the Army adamantly

In a meeting held yesterday relevant to releasing the people’s lands, the Army and Police held to their positions adamantly, that releasing the lands of people is not immediately possible if the government will not grant alternate Lands and money for shifting the Camps.

The meeting for releasing the lands of people occupied by Army and Police was presided by the District Secretary , Jaffna. MPs, Mawai Senathyrasa, M.A.Sumanthiran, S.Siritharan, and E. Saravanapavan, UNP’s Jaffna District MP, Wijeyakala Maheswaran, Commander of the SF – Jaffna, Major General Tharsana Hettiaarachchi, Commander of the Navy, Officials of the Air Force and Police and the Divisional Secretaries participated in this meeting.

The people’s Representatives pointed out that, although, certain amount under the control of the Army, the Navy had released only a meager amount. It was requested that the Navy should provide details of lands intended to be released by the Navy and the time frame of release.

Army said although it had been decided to release further lands, immediate release is not possible if the government will not provide alternate lands and money for shifting the camps. Police also made similar claims for releasing people’s lands.

It is notable that the lands of people should released before the end of December.

It was also notable that the Commander SF-N had earlier declared that they working with speed to implement the Order of the President.
