Pandemonium reigned in Parliament- Parliament adjourned  till 21st .Speaker attacked with empty water bottles and waste paper baskets

When the parliament was convened today, Mahindha Rajapakse started to deliver his special address. His address was insisting for elections among other things. His address was similar to that  of a Prime Minister . After the address was completed the UNP-ers and others started to protest as to how a non-existent Prime Minister could deliver an address and demanded a vote on this speech. All pandemonium broke out in the Parliament  with Mahindha faction called a thief and UNPers   calling Mahindha a thief.

Situations reached a level closer to a hand- to-hand fight. The Mahindha faction was trying to reach the Speaker and remove him from his seat and the UNPers forming a cordon around the speaker. Finally when the speaker tried to leave, empty water bottles and waste paper baskets were thrown by Mahintha faction. Shouting and counter shouting filled the chamber. A MP, Thimuth Amunugagama , Son of Sarath Amunugama had been injured in the melee and was treated at the Jayawardenepura Hospital.

After a meeting of the Leaders of the  parties, it has been announced that the Parliament is being adjourned to the 21st .

Meanwhile the uncertain situation has increased the purchase price from Rs.172 to Rs.178.
