UXO recovered from Kokkuththoduwai, Mulaitheevu

A dangerous Unexploded ordnance (UXO) had been recovered from Kokkuththoduwai centre in Mulaitheevu yesterday.

This dangerous heavy Vehicle Mine was found buried in a private land and was recovered by STF.

The owner of the said land had dug a hole in his land to plant a fruit tree. He had noticed the presence of the mine in the hole dug by him. Following this the land owner had informed the Kokkuththoduwai Police regarding the mine through the Grama Officer, Kokkuththuwai.

Later in the day, the police with the court’s order had gone to the spot accompanied by STF Deminers, and they recovered the mine.

It is notable that, When Kokkuththoduwai are was brought under Army control, the residents of the village had displaced.
