NP in a state of begging for 97% of its needs from Central Government, says the Governor Ragavan
The Governor of the Northern Province Dr. Suren Ragavan has said that currently the Northern Province is in a state of begging for 97% of its needs from the Central Government.
He had said so participating in an event at the Chavakacheri Hindu College, yesterday.
Elaborating further , he said that while the budgeted expenditures are exceeding 26 Billion, our productions stand at less than 700 million. This is only 3% of the budgeted amount. Because of this, the Northern Province is in a state of begging for 97% of its needs from the Central Government. Given the proper chance , the Northern Province has the inherent capability of transforming into a Province that could provide the total income of Sri Lanka.
The Northern Province has all the Land, water, marine resources to achieve this goal. Kilinochchi may transform into the Food Bowl of Asia. Northern Province should transform into a province that could provide grants to the other Provinces. This dream should become a reality.
No race, that had not achieved economic development, could win its political freedom. Real valour is in rising up after falling. All of you should give me a hand in achieving this, he said.
